The diagnosis was Potomac Horse Fever which has about a 40% mortality rate and relatively unheard of in NC. Fortunately Dr Castro had been extremely aggressive in treating her and he stayed in contact with me every day checking her status. His proactive treatments and what I consider to be cutting edge variety of medications saved my mare.
