Amber Holshouser
Vet Assistant
Amber grew up in Olin, North Carolina, and has lived on a farm her entire life, surrounded by a variety of animals. She attended Virginia Tech, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Animal Science. During her time at VT, she served as president of the Collegiate Horsemen’s Association for two years. Amber is currently applying to veterinary school with the goal of becoming an equine theriogenologist. In her free time, she enjoys working out, spending time with friends, and being with her animals.

My name is Cameryn Reavis, I am from Harmony, NC. I recently graduated
from Gaston College’s Veterinary Technology program and will be taking my
board exams soon. I played beach volleyball for Gaston College during the
two years I was enrolled. I have been an avid horse lover ever since I was
a kid and I first learned to ride horses around twelve. I love spending
time with my horse, Waylon, and being outside.
Kienan Beasley
Vet Assistant
Kienan has been with DCLAH since the day he turned 16, (2021). He began his journey with us working weekends, and upon graduating high school, he moved to the front desk. Now, Kienan has joined the ranks of our vet assistants. Kienan is always willing to step in and help out, and he keeps things lively with his wit and debate skills! We are incredibly proud of his dedication and the amazing work he does at our hospital

Rob Engelmann
Lead Farrier
Rob has worked closely with veterinarians at DCLAH for over 20 years. He works on trimming, balancing, and shoeing a wide variety of horses. He is here every Monday and Thursday.

Ana Paula Iturralde
Marketing and IT Director
Ana Paula Iturralde, originally from Latacunga, Ecuador, holds a degree in
Hotel and Tourism Management, which she earned in 2019. An entrepreneur at
heart, she founded a corporate gifting company in Ecuador as well as an
online tire sales business. In January 2024, her journey led her to join
DCLAH as the Marketing and IT Director. Ana Paula is passionate about
creativity, teamwork, and drawing inspiration from her surroundings to
bring out the best in every place and moment.

Moved to North Carolina from Colorado with husband, horses, and dogs in 2022. Has 7 years of experience in large animal veterinary practices. Has been raising horses, cattle, and goats for most of life.

Greg Eaton
Lead Maintenance Technician & Landscape Architect
Greg Eaton started working at DCLAH in 1999. He is in charge of all of our maintenance here at the hospital. His duties include feeding any horses boarding at DCLAH, keeping stalls cleaned and sanitized, preparing our surgery suite and recovery room before and after every procedure, and keeping our hospital looking its very best. Greg works tirelessly throughout the week and weekends keeping our facilities and property clean and functioning at all times. He is a great asset to our team!

Dr. Francisco Barona
Interns
Dr. Barona graduated from Universidad de Las Américas (UDLA) in Quito, Ecuador. He has a deep passion for working with large animals, particularly cows and horses—a connection that began early in life thanks to his family’s dairy farm. Throughout his life, he has maintained a close relationship with livestock and production animals. During his time in veterinary school, he completed an externship at DCLAH and also served as the president of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science at UDLA.
Isabella Bahamonde

Isabella Bahamonde is 23 years old and studied at Liceo Franco Ecuatoriano
La Condamine. She speaks Spanish, French, and English, has an intermediate
level of Portuguese, and basic knowledge of German and Italian. In June
2024, she graduated as a Veterinarian from USFQ. She has always had a
strong interest in horses as well as wildlife and is seeking to expand her
knowledge in anesthesia while continuing to grow professionally. She has
participated in various university outreach projects involving both small
animals and equines.

Morante is a playful young horse, who is full of energy, loves attention and enjoys trail rides.

Hispania has a lovely personality and a kind eye. Hispania just began his formal training. Soon he will join Morante in trail rides.

Val is our senior horse resident. She foaled Hispania in 2018. As the alpha mare, she keeps the other two in check!
