DAVIE COUNTY LARGE ANIMAL HOSPITAL

Davie County Large Animal Hospital offers a Veterinary Technician Training Program for recent foreign veterinary graduates. We work alongside CAEP to help the trainee candidate get a J1 working visa.

What is CAEP?

Communicating for Agriculture Exchange Program (CAEP) is a private company that specializes in the agricultural professional training and coaching area, providing assistance to candidates interested in fulfilling a paid agriculture exchange program in the US.

Western Veterinary Technician Training Program Details

In the veterinary technician program, exchange visitors work alongside an equine veterinarian and other certified technicians to provide care to horses. In such programs, you may: provide nursing care for the horses, collect specimens and perform lab procedures, obtain medical histories, assist in preparation before and during surgeries or other medical procedures, and also help educate owners. Please be advised that as a veterinary technician in this program, you may not diagnose a horse’s illness, prescribe medication, or perform any form of surgery. Veterinary technician placements exist throughout the United States, but are primarily in the western states. Placements are generally 5 to 6 months in length, with most placements beginning in January.  Good English and horse handling skills are required to take part in this program.
